Having a Democrat who knows how to win in the rust belt sounds like a plus; certainly, it would have helped last time. But for a guy who used to be close legislative friends with Bernie Sanders, it's weird that he's decided not to endorse the idea of Medicare-For-All and instead propose half-measures like giving it to cops and firefighters and a "public option" people would have to buy into. Lacking the same name recognition he's apparently going for making a splash by . . . proposing more modest reforms?
