Rescue Phil's phone from Telus
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Quothe Phil,

So, apparently Telus has needlessly disabled my second sim capacity, any ideas on how to strip out the bullshit and make it how sonim built it?

Questions to answer first include:

  • Are there stock ROMs available?
    • From Sonim themselves?
    • That other folks have managed to source and share?
  • Is it supported by TWRP?
    • No, at least there are no entries for Sonim under the devices listing.
      • Perhaps it's actually just a rebadge of other hardware that is supported?
  • Are there any hacks that could get root?
    • On that note, what version of Android is it running?

So, after talking to sonim yesterday and confirming that the only way to have it work would be to buy a phone straight from sonim, I talked to Koodo today. I swear reps should know better that to claim that they will be able to provide options to fix things

He even had the balls to say that he would get authorized to get sonim to change the software
19:27
I would be more angry were I not impressed with the size of this guy's balls
19:29
I also sadly discovered that it's only passive dual sim even if it did work. But that would still work

Have my new work phone not be a phone. So I would still be able to just use it during work hours
